Getting motivated to workout is hard, sometimes it feels like the universe is conspiring against you to put on your sweatpants and move just enough for the namesake.
I get it, maybe your workouts aren't a lot of fun, or maybe swinging around metal weight until you are toned sounds like a job. I do not think I have it in me to drive more then five or ten minutes to get to a gym where I can train.
There are things that I do to help myself make sure I train when I'm not feeling up for it...
• Change into workout clothes. I got this tip from Scott Adams blogs, and it works for me. This is also problem solving, do the first step, don't worry about how long or much you will workout yet.
• Grab your phone, put on some music, let the tunes match the mood. Or to be more specific, find something with a high BPM (beats per minute) for running or high intensity workouts like running, lifting or plyometrics, and lower BPM for yoga, jogging, and cool-downs.
• Find an activity. Join a soccer club, play beach volleyball, join a walking/running meetup, use the Engage Timer, do some workouts with something fun that helps distract you from the fact you are exercising.
Believe in the process, whenever you are starting something new it will not feel natural. Take time to notice how you feel before and after. If you never have fun, how can you expect yourself to continue? Continue to explore until you have found something that gives you energy.
